Custom quilt Trip around the world

How to choose designs & use Intelliquilter to execute them.

Custom Quilting a Trip around the World quilt.

Join me in a journey in auditioning designs and then creating them using Intelliquilter on this Trip Around the World quilt. We have the ultimate tool at our disposal, so why not use it! I have incorporated some freehand elements to maintain my personal style as requested by the customer.

Welcome to our course on custom quilting a Trip around the World quilt top!

In this course, you'll learn how to use the Intelliquilter system tools to design and stitch unique designs after auditioning and experimenting by first using an iPad to draw over the photo of the quilt. If you don't have an iPad, then simply print it out on paper a few times to play with some designs.

I have just finished this quilt that was given to me with the instructions 'Quilt as Desired - but I hope to enter this into a quilt competition with my guild'.  I felt this needed probably more than an edge to edge, but I also wanted to respect the traditional piecing design and not totally over quilt it.

What You'll Learn:

  • How I use my Ipad to draw over the photo of the whole quilt to audition possible designs
  • Using path pattern to create double pearled spines for the wreaths
  • Using repeat to create the curved crosshatch
  • Using Line pattern to build double continuous curves
  • Modifying new motifs to fit the quilt top perfectly
  • Creating a simple line pattern to highlight the lines that create the structure of the piecing
  • Practical Exercises: Participate in guided exercises that reinforce theoretical knowledge, allowing you to practice and refine your skills in real-time.
  • Creative Confidence: Build the confidence to experiment and customise designs to fit the quilt top and stitch them.

Bonus extras when you purchase the class

  • 'Dotty' Line pattern
  • Double wreath spines with crosshatch centre pattern
  • Triangle curved crosshatch pattern

Benefits of custom quilting using your Intelliquilter!

Personalization and Customization:
Using the Intelliquilter system, you can design unique, personalized quilting patterns for each wedge, allowing you to tailor the cushion to match specific themes, colours, or styles that reflect your or your recipient’s preferences.

Efficient Use of Fabric Scraps:
Creating floor cushions is an excellent way to utilize leftover fabric and batting scraps. This not only reduces waste but also makes each cushion a sustainable and eco-friendly project.

Skill Enhancement: Working with the Intelliquilter system to design and quilt each wedge helps improve your quilting skills. You'll gain experience with digital design, precision quilting, and complex pattern creation, making you a more proficient and versatile quilter.

Comfort and Versatility:
The finished floor cushions are not only beautiful but also practical. They provide comfortable seating and can be used in various settings, from children's playrooms to cozy reading nooks, enhancing the functionality and aesthetic appeal of any space.
